Contra Costa Industrial and Agricultural Association 1887

I found a bronze medal with the above inscription. Awarded to BOTTS & NATTRINGHAM(? last name not clear) for “Best Exhibit of Horse Shoes.” Later stamped over with BOTT& SMITH.

Bott & Smith listed in 1908 County Directory for Concord as blacksmiths and machine shop.

Need to know in which town exhibits were held in 1887. And anything about Botts & Nattringham.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. If you need funds to make a search please let me know.

      Jerry Schimmel:

It would appear that we are unable to help you regarding the Contra Costa Industrial and Agricultural Association. A county function, you may have better luck with the Contra Costa County Historical Society. You will find them online.

As for the names you mention, Henry Bott was a blacksmith in Concord. He and Thomas Smith operated the Bott & Smith Blacksmith Shop at the corner of Grant Street and Willow Pass Road from 1884 to 1937, when the men retired. The other name, Nattringham, doesn’t ring a bell.

      I hope this proves helpful.
