As long as I can remember I have taken an interest in history. No doubt much of my early interest in the historical past developed from experiences living in an old adobe near Watrous, New Mexico that was once a stop on the Santa Fe Trail and watching my father reconstruct ca. 1850s Fort Burgwin near Taos, New Mexico.

My interest in history continued in my college years during which I took part in excavations of a ca. 1840s grist mill near Talpa, New Mexico and the Ontiveros adobe in Santa Fe Springs, California. Later, family vacations frequently included stops at points of historical interest such as Columbia in the Gold Rush country and the Customs House in Monterey. While in school my two daughters also enjoyed taking part in Living History programs at Sutters Fort, Fort Ross, the John Muir house, and the Petaluma Adobe.

Now retired I am actively involved with the Clayton Historical Society, the Concord chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and the Amerind Foundation in Dragoon, Arizona. I am looking forward to playing an active role in the Concord Historical Society, notably the new museum in the Event Center and fundraising.
